St Nicholas Cathedral in Białystok — the Orthodox cathedral on Lipowa Street
The Cathedral of St Nicholas the Wonderworker, built in the 1840s, is the main church of the Orthodox diocese and a symbol of multicultural Białystok. It stands right on Lipowa Street, a few minutes from the square; inside are the iconostasis, wall paintings and the relics of St Gabriel of Zabłudów.
It is a working church — visit outside services, quietly and in suitable clothing. It is most beautiful on Orthodox feast days, which usually fall later than Catholic ones.
