A sight in the Szklarska Poręba region

Death Bend — a viewpoint on the Sudeten Road in Szklarska Poręba

Death Bend is a sharp, almost 180-degree curve on the Sudeten Road (regional road 358) at about 775 m a.s.l. between Szklarska Poręba and Świeradów-Zdrój. It was built between 1935 and 1937 and acquired its dramatic name after the war because of the many accidents here. Today it is above all a popular viewpoint — a platform was built in 2020, opening a wide panorama of the Karkonosze, the town and the Jelenia Góra Basin. The yellow trail up Wysoki Kamień starts from the free car park at the bend.
