The House of Carl and Gerhart Hauptmann — a museum in Szklarska Poręba
The House of Carl and Gerhart Hauptmann is a listed villa from the end of the 19th century on ul. 11 Listopada, home to the playwright Carl Hauptmann, brother of the Nobel laureate Gerhart Hauptmann. Since 1994 it has housed a branch of the Karkonosze Museum with a permanent exhibition on both writers and on the famous artists' colony that gathered painters and writers in Szklarska Poręba around the turn of the 20th century. The museum shows memorabilia, works of art and the history of the town's artistic tradition. It is one of the most important cultural attractions in the region.
