A sight in the Malbork region

Sztum Castle — the summer residence of the grand masters

A Gothic Teutonic castle by a lake, once the summer and hunting residence of the grand masters who ruled from nearby Malbork — an intimate, picturesque fortress on the Pomeranian castle trail.

The summer residence of the grand masters

Sztum Castle was built in the 14th century as one of the Teutonic Order's strongholds and served the grand masters as a summer and hunting residence — a quiet place to rest not far from their main seat at Malbork.

Set by a lake

The castle stands picturesquely by a lake, which from the start gave it both defensive and restful qualities. Fragments of the walls, the gates and the buildings survive, and the setting invites a walk by the water.
