History and architecture
Building began in 1381 on the initiative of the Gdańsk patrician Jan Thiergeart; the masonry church was consecrated on 7 October 1403. The Carthusians were an austere silent order — their motto "memento mori" ("remember death") left its mark on the look of the collegiate church.
