The Town Hall
The Old Town Hall took nearly 250 years to build (from the 13th to the 16th century); it is one of the most important monuments of secular Gothic in this part of Europe, with a richly decorated east front and an astronomical clock. Today it houses the Museum of Burgher Art among other things, and in the cellars is the Piwnica Świdnicka — one of the oldest eating houses in Europe.
The square and around it
- The townhouses — colourful façades from various periods, including "Hansel and Gretel" by St Elizabeth's church
- Plac Solny — just off the Market Square, today home to a round-the-clock flower market
- The pillory — a reconstruction in the middle of the square and a popular meeting point
- The dwarfs — you will find several figures around the square, a good place to start the hunt
The viewing tower
In season you can climb the tower of St Elizabeth's church just off the square — from the platform a panorama of the old town and its roofs opens out. Numbers and opening hours can be limited, so check before your visit.

The pavement tables return and it is pleasant to walk without the crowds.
