A sight in the Wisła region

The Andrzej Podżorski Beskid Museum in Wisła

The Beskid Museum stands in the centre of Wisła, in a historic former inn from the end of the 18th century. Its collections open up the shepherding, weaving and folk culture of the Silesian Beskids.

The museum and its building

The Beskid Museum occupies a former inn of 1794 in the heart of Wisła. It is named after Andrzej Podżorski, a collector of regional folk art, and is one of the oldest cultural institutions in the town.

The collections

  • Shepherding culture — the equipment of sheep farming in the Beskids
  • Weaving and dress — textiles, tools and regional costume
  • Everyday life — the furnishings of Beskid highlanders' cottages
  • The history of Wisła — the past of the town and the region

In practice

The museum is in the centre, close to the promenade — a good choice for a rainy day and a complement to a day in the mountains. Opening hours and admission depend on the season; it is worth checking before a visit.
