The building and the place
Designed by a Finnish practice, the building opened in 2013 and the permanent exhibition in 2014. Its interior is cut through by an undulating canyon, read as the parting of the Red Sea. The museum stands in the heart of the former Warsaw ghetto, opposite the Ghetto Heroes Monument.
The permanent exhibition
The multimedia permanent exhibition leads through a thousand years of Jewish history in Poland — from the Middle Ages, through the flourishing life of the communities, to the Holocaust and the post-war years. It is a story about life, not only about destruction.
