St James's Church in Szczyrk — a wooden monument from 1800

The wooden church of St James the Apostle is the oldest place of worship in Szczyrk, raised between 1797 and 1800 in log construction. The building, with a rectangular nave and a narrower chancel, is covered by gabled shingle roofs. Inside, the late Baroque furnishings survive — three altars, a pulpit with a relief of St Ambrose and a cycle of 14 Baroque Passion paintings from after 1814. The font and the stoups date from 1800 and the bell from 1691. Part of the furnishing came here from the Norbertine monastery in Nowy Sącz. In 2011 the church was made a diocesan sanctuary.
