A sight in the Roztocze region

Bukowa Góra — the nature trail in Roztocze National Park

Bukowa Góra (310 m a.s.l.) is the highest hill in Roztocze National Park. The park's best-known nature trail climbs it, starting at the Education and Museum Centre in Zwierzyniec.

The nature trail and the summit

The „Up Bukowa Góra” nature trail is a loop of about 2.5 km through beechwoods, stands of fir and exposed rock. At the top stands a viewing terrace looking out over the rolling hills and forests of Roztocze towards Sochy. The Wieprz valley is not visible from here. The loop passes the Echo ponds.

What you can see

  • Carpathian beechwood — a protected stand of old beeches
  • Firs — one of the northernmost stands in Poland
  • The viewing terrace — a panorama of the forests and hills of Roztocze
  • Interpretation boards — describing the plants and animals along the trail

Practical notes

The route starts at the park's Education and Museum Centre in Zwierzyniec, and the loop passes the Echo ponds. The park is ticketed (a day pass). Comfortable shoes are enough; the trail is manageable for families with children.
