A sight in the Mielno region

Chłopy — a fishing village and landing near Mielno

Chłopy is a small, atmospheric fishing village in the Mielno district, east of the resort. There is no harbour with a basin here — the cutters are hauled straight onto the beach, which makes a picturesque, genuine maritime scene. You can buy fresh fish straight off the boat, eat at a fry stall by the beach and feel a quieter, fisherman's atmosphere away from the bustle of Mielno.

A village with character

Chłopy has kept the character of a fishing settlement. Instead of a conventional harbour, the boats and cutters are hauled onto the beach with winches — an increasingly rare sight on the Polish coast. That makes the village a favourite for walks and photographs, especially early in the morning when the fishermen come back from the catch.

Fish and the beach

By the landing and around it you can buy fresh fish and try it at the fry stalls. The beach at Chłopy is quieter than at Mielno — a good choice for anyone looking for maritime authenticity away from the resort bustle.
