The beach — what to expect
The beach at Dziwnów is wide and sandy, with the pale, fine sand typical of this part of the coast. On the town side it is sheltered by a belt of dunes grown over with grass and pine — so a few metres from the promenade it is quiet, and the wind smooths the sand. Access to the beach is by marked ways down through the dunes (on wooden boardwalks) — walking outside them damages the dunes and is forbidden.
The central stretch of beach is lifeguarded in season — with WOPR lifeguards, an observation tower and marked bathing zones (flags: white for bathing allowed, red for forbidden). The lifeguarded bathing area usually operates from June or July to the end of August, roughly 10:00–18:00. The further you go towards Dziwnówek and Łukęcin, the wilder and less crowded the beach becomes — at the cost of having no food stalls and no lifeguards.
The promenade on the dunes
Along the beach, on the crest of the dunes, runs a promenade — a made-up, lit walkway with benches and viewpoints over the sea. It is the main artery of summer Dziwnów: crowded in season, with ice cream shops, food trucks, souvenir sellers and small attractions for children. It is at its most pleasant early in the morning (empty, with clear air) and at sunset — the promenade faces west, so the view of the sun setting over the Baltic is its trademark.
From the promenade you can conveniently link the different parts of the town: one way it leads towards Dziwnówek, the other it approaches the Dziwna quay, the fishing harbour, the marina and the bascule bridge. That makes it possible to put together a sensible day without a car: beach → promenade → harbour → boat trip → fish lunch → back along the promenade at sunset.
The Avenue of Sporting Stars
A local curiosity of Dziwnów is the Avenue of Sporting Stars — a pavement with plaques commemorating Polish Olympic medallists and outstanding sportspeople, with their handprints. The idea was born in the second half of the 2000s (with the support of the Olympic community), and further "stars" are added each year at a summer gala — one of the resort's better-known events. A walk along the avenue is a miniature survey of the history of Polish sport: from athletes through swimmers to winter and team sports.
You will find the avenue beside the quay and the promenade (the arrangement and position of the plaques are sometimes reordered when the promenade is renovated, so follow the signs on the spot). It makes a rewarding photograph — laying your own hand on an Olympic champion's print is a compulsory item, especially for younger visitors.

When to go
May and June — the beach to yourself and lower prices. The water is still cold (12–16°C), but walking and cycling are fully in season.
Crowds in July and August, the lifeguarded bathing area open, a busy promenade and the Avenue of Sporting Stars gala. Sunrise is already around 4:30–5:00.
September — the best late summer, the water at 16–18°C to mid-month and markedly fewer people. October is cold, but lovely for walking.
An empty beach, wind and storms. The promenade at this season is raw and atmospheric — with a thick jacket and a hat.
