The open-air museum
The Museum of Folk Architecture in Sanok is the largest open-air museum in Poland. Across an extensive site, dozens of historic wooden buildings have been gathered and rebuilt — cottages, farm buildings, churches of both the Latin and Eastern rites, arranged according to the ethnographic groups of the region: the Boykos, Lemkos, Pogórzanie and Dolinianie.
It is a thorough introduction to the culture of the Carpathian borderland and a good starting point for understanding the Boyko and Lemko villages of the Bieszczady, most of which no longer exist.

Visiting
The museum is in Sanok, at the gates of the Bieszczady, and is open all year (ticketed, with limited access in winter). Allow several hours; the site is large and comfortable footwear is advisable. It goes well at the beginning or the end of a trip to the Bieszczady.
