Why it leans
The Leaning Tower is a 14th-century tower, part of the town's fortifications. Its marked lean most likely comes from the ground settling near the Vistula. The crown of the tower, however, was built up vertically, which visually exaggerates the tilt. A colourful Toruń legend about a knight of the Order doing penance is attached to it too.

- Try the „test” — the popular game: stand with your back to the wall and try to keep your balance
- Walk the walls — the tower is part of the surviving line of fortifications above the Vistula
- Photography — one of the most photographed spots in the city

The Leaning Tower stands by the walls, a few minutes from the market square and the House of Copernicus — it fits naturally into a walking loop round the old town, best ended with a stroll along the Vistula embankment.
