A sight in the Suwalszczyzna region

The Suwałki Landscape Park — Cisowa Góra and the post-glacial hills

The Suwałki Landscape Park was the first landscape park created in Poland (1976), protecting the most sculpted stretch of the region. This is a land of steep moraines, deep lake troughs and fields of erratic boulders. Its emblem is the conical Cisowa Góra (256 m), known as the „Suwałki Fuji”.

Poland's first landscape park

Created in 1976, the park was the first landscape park in Poland. It protects a young post-glacial landscape: rolling moraines, deep troughs with lakes — including Hańcza — and the many erratic boulders left by the ice sheet.

What to see

  • Cisowa Góra — a conical hill (256 m), the „Suwałki Fuji”
  • The Bachanowo boulder field — fields of stones from the ice age
  • Lake Hańcza — the deepest lake in Poland, inside the park
  • Smolniki — viewpoints on the edge of the park

Practical notes

The park lies north of Suwałki, about 25 km from the town centre. A short, steep path climbs Cisowa Góra to a wide panorama. Waymarked walking and cycling trails cross the area, and the viewpoints are open to all.
