Poland's first landscape park
Created in 1976, the park was the first landscape park in Poland. It protects a young post-glacial landscape: rolling moraines, deep troughs with lakes — including Hańcza — and the many erratic boulders left by the ice sheet.
What to see
- Cisowa Góra — a conical hill (256 m), the „Suwałki Fuji”
- The Bachanowo boulder field — fields of stones from the ice age
- Lake Hańcza — the deepest lake in Poland, inside the park
- Smolniki — viewpoints on the edge of the park
Practical notes
The park lies north of Suwałki, about 25 km from the town centre. A short, steep path climbs Cisowa Góra to a wide panorama. Waymarked walking and cycling trails cross the area, and the viewpoints are open to all.
