A historic railway of 1937
Krynica's funicular up Góra Parkowa opened in December 1937 and was the first railway of its kind in Poland. It was built by the Swiss firm Von Roll, and the project was the idea of the engineer Aleksander Bobkowski.
Two cars run on a single track with a passing loop in the middle, covering about 640 metres and climbing nearly 150 metres. The journey itself — among the trees, with the view opening out towards the valley — is part of the attraction.
At the top and in the Spa Park
The summit of Góra Parkowa lies at about 741 m a.s.l. and offers viewpoints over the panorama of Krynica and the ridges around. It is also a convenient place to start a walk along the woodland avenues of the Spa Park, more than two centuries old, which links the summit with the promenade in the valley.
Family attractions are laid out around the upper station — toboggan runs and slides of varying difficulty, from gentle descents for the youngest to faster tracks for those who want more excitement.
How to get there and what to do
- The funicular — the lower station is close to the promenade, and it reaches the top in a few minutes.
- A walk through the Spa Park — woodland avenues leading uphill for those who prefer to go on foot.
- Toboggan runs and slides — family attractions by the upper station, open seasonally.
- Viewpoints — the panorama of the spa and the Sącz Beskids from the summit.

The most on offer: the toboggan runs open, walks in the shade of the trees and long views from the summit.
The park turns colour, and the panorama from Góra Parkowa can be exceptionally sharp.
A snow-covered hill and the funicular running through white woodland make a wintry, festive scene.
