A walk along the Bulwary Dietla

The promenade is named the Bulwary Dietla after Józef Dietl — the 19th-century doctor who championed Poland's spa towns. It is an avenue closed to cars, lined with cafés, patisseries, guesthouses and historic villas from the resort's great days.

In the evening the promenade comes alive: the bandstand plays, the fountain is lit and people linger at tables in the open air. This is where it is easiest to feel Krynica's unhurried, spa-town rhythm.

The Main Pump Room and Krynica's waters

The Main Pump Room in its present, modernist form was built at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s and opened in 1971, replacing an earlier building. Inside are the pump hall with its water taps, a winter garden and a concert hall where performances are held all year round.

From the taps flow the mineral waters of Krynica — among them Jan, Józef, Zdrój Główny and Słotwinka. The real star is Zuber, one of the most highly mineralised medicinal waters in Europe, with its distinctive, intense taste.
