The Raj Cave — the loveliest karst cave, near Chęciny

The Raj Cave is a small but exceptionally richly decorated karst cave near Chęciny, reckoned one of the finest in Poland. It is famous for its dense forest of formations — stalactites, stalagmites and columns. It is visited with a guide, and beside it stands a modern centre with an exhibition on the cave and prehistory.

The formations

The Raj Cave formed in Devonian limestone. In a short stretch it concentrates an exceptional density of formations. It was discovered in 1964, and traces of Neanderthals were found inside.
