A burial ground of the distinguished
The Old Cemetery at Pęksowy Brzyzek is the oldest cemetery in Zakopane. Many who served the town, the exploration of the Tatras and highland culture lie here — artists, guides and activists. Its finely worked gravestones, often the work of Podhale woodcarvers, make the cemetery itself an open-air monument.
The wooden church
Beside the cemetery stands an old wooden church — one of the oldest in Zakopane and an example of traditional Podhale religious architecture. Together with the cemetery it forms an intimate, atmospheric group away from the bustle of Krupówki.
