A sight in the Świnoujście region

The lighthouse at Świnoujście — the tallest in Poland

A brick tower rising above the mouth of the Świna — the tallest lighthouse in Poland and one of the tallest on the Baltic, with a viewing platform for the persistent.

The tallest in Poland

The lighthouse at Świnoujście is the tallest structure of its kind in Poland — climbing to the viewing platform means several hundred steps, but the reward is a wide panorama of the mouth of the Świna, the harbour, the beaches and the islands of Usedom and Wolin.

Visiting

  • Tickets — admission is charged, with hours depending on the season
  • Fitness — steep, winding stairs; not for anyone afraid of heights
  • Weather — the best and longest views come on a clear, still day
  • Location — on the Warszów side, reached by the crossing or the tunnel

Tips

The lighthouse is on the eastern side of the river mouth (Warszów), so plan for the ferry or the tunnel. It is worth combining the climb with a walk by the mouth of the Świna and a view of the ships coming into harbour.
