What to know before you go

Rzeszów is the capital of the Subcarpathian Province and a good base for a few days: everything in the centre is close together, and the region's main sights — Łańcut Castle and the Kolbuszowa open-air museum — are about half an hour away.

The heart of the city is the market square with its town hall, under which runs the Underground Tourist Route — old merchants' cellars joined into one trail. A few minutes' walk away stands the Lubomirski castle, and by the square the family favourite, the Museum of Bedtime Cartoons.
