A sight in the Międzyzdroje region

Turquoise Lake at Wapnica near Międzyzdroje

Turquoise Lake formed in a former chalk quarry at Wapnica, about 9 km south of Międzyzdroje. It owes its extraordinary turquoise colour to the calcium compounds dissolved in the water. A scenic trail climbs above the lake to Zielonka hill, with a viewpoint over the Szczecin Lagoon and Wapnica. It is one of the loveliest corners of Woliński National Park and a popular day trip from the resort.
