A unique mountain nature
The Karkonosze National Park protects the highest parts of the range, where alpine and subarctic ecosystems have survived. Its glacial cirques with their mountain lakes — Mały Staw and Wielki Staw — are characteristic, along with stretches of dwarf pine and high mountain tundra.

In practice
There is an entry charge for the park, and you must keep to the waymarked trails. Mountain weather changes fast — protection from wind and rain and sturdy footwear are essential. On the ridge it is considerably colder and windier than down in Karpacz.
