What the trail is
The Trail of the Royal Oaks is a short nature path running between mighty oaks several centuries old. Each of the great trees has been given the name of a Polish or Lithuanian ruler historically connected with the Białowieża Forest and its royal hunts.
It is an accessible way to sense the scale of the forest's old trees without entering the strictly protected part of the national park — the trail runs through the managed part of the forest.

Where it is
The trail lies in the Białowieża Forest near Białowieża and combines well with the other places in the region (the museum, a guided trip into the protected part of the forest, the Bison Show Reserve). Sturdy footwear is advisable; after rain the ground can be soft. The trail can be walked without a guide.
