PONIK Apartamenty przy plaży and the area — a guide to the Rewal region
Rewal is the seat of a seaside district in Gryfice county, West Pomerania, on the Trzebiatów Coast between Pobierowo and Pogorzelica. Small in area, the district packs in seven holiday villages — Rewal, Niechorze, Pobierowo, Pogorzelica, Trzęsacz, Śliwin and Pustkowo — each with its own way down to the beach. It is one of the areas with the highest density of holiday beds in Poland during the summer.
The best-known landmark is the Niechorze lighthouse — a slender brick tower 45 metres high, raised in 1866, whose gallery opens a wide view over the Baltic and the villages around. The second emblem is the church ruins at Trzęsacz — a fragment of a 15th-century Gothic church which as late as the 19th century stood well back from the shore and today hangs over the very edge of a cliff steadily undercut by the sea.
In summer the Seaside Narrow-Gauge Railway runs the length of the district parallel to the shore, with stops in every village. The line has been working since the end of the 19th century and is today one of the greatest attractions of the region, linking Pogorzelica, Niechorze, Rewal and Trzęsacz. The district's beaches are wide and sandy, and the cliffs so typical of this coast give it a raw, picturesque character.
Rewal and its neighbours are a classic base for a family summer — with lifeguarded bathing areas, promenades, playgrounds and plenty of places to eat. Away from the beach the district is ringed by pine forest and a bird reserve on the coastal lake Liwia Łuża near Niechorze. With Trzebiatów, Gryfice and the other coastal resorts close by, the area makes a convenient base for the whole of West Pomerania.

In spring the seaside villages of the Rewal district come back to life while the beaches and promenades are still pleasantly empty. It is a good time for walks below the cliffs, for climbing the Niechorze lighthouse without queueing and for birdwatching at Liwia Łuża lake. The sea is still cold, but sunny days invite long walks along the shore.
Summer is the peak of the season — lifeguarded bathing areas, fish bars and funfairs are busy in every village. The Seaside Narrow-Gauge Railway runs, and the beaches at Niechorze, Rewal and Pobierowo fill with holidaymakers. Book your stay well ahead: this is one of the most popular districts on the Baltic.
In autumn the cliffs and the beech and pine woods turn gold and the coast becomes quiet and intimate. It is the season for walks on empty beaches, time in the hotel spas and a stormy Baltic watched from the terrace at Trzęsacz. Fewer visitors also means lower prices for a room.
In winter the Rewal district is calm and hushed, and a rough sea is a spectacle from the cliffs and the lighthouse. Hotels with pools and wellness areas offer restorative breaks far from the crowds. Snow on the ruins at Trzęsacz and a frosty walk along the shore are for the hardier visitor.
How to get there and what to know
- Getting there
- By car on the S6 and S3 to Gryfice, then regional road 102 along the coast through Trzebiatów to Pobierowo, Rewal and Niechorze. In summer the villages operate paid parking zones.
- By train / narrow-gauge railway
- The nearest mainline station is Gryfice, with buses on to the district. In summer the historic Seaside Narrow-Gauge Railway links all the villages (Pogorzelica – Niechorze – Rewal – Trzęsacz – Gryfice).
- A base for trips
- A convenient start for the whole Trzebiatów Coast: Trzebiatów with its old town, Liwia Łuża lake, and further afield Kołobrzeg, Dziwnów and the island of Wolin.
- Season
- The main season runs from June to September, peaking in July and August. May, June and September are quieter and cheaper alternatives, and the spa hotels take guests all year.
